Sticky note to shipped workshop in under 90 seconds.
A single-page quickstart. Open a board, drop a sticky, share it. The deeper references (shortcuts, integrations, API) are linked from the sidebar.
Your first board
Sign in, hit New board, give it a name. You’re on a blank canvas with the toolbar at the top. That’s the whole product.
The canvas is infinite (well, 100m × 100m worth). Zoom with Ctrl/Cmd + scroll, pan by holding space and dragging.
Sticky notes
Press S to grab the sticky tool, click anywhere on the canvas. Type. That’s the whole flow. Bold, italic, link — one tap each, no twelve-step toolbar.
Change colour with 1–9 while a sticky is selected. Duplicate with Cmd/Ctrl + D. Drag from any corner to move; from the edge to resize.
Shapes & connectors
Press R for rectangle, O for ellipse, L for line, A for arrow. Hover over a shape to see its anchor points, drag from one to draw a connector that stays attached.
The connector engine is the opinionated bit: arrows follow the shapes they connect, even as the shapes move. Tree views, flow diagrams, user journeys all use the same engine.
Sharing
Click Share in the top-right. Three modes:
- Workspace — anyone in your workspace can open the board.
- Anyone with link — public-by-URL. Optional read-only mode.
- Specific guests — invite by email; they can comment without joining the workspace.
Guests are free on every plan. You only pay for workspace members.
Templates
100+ templates across retrospectives, discovery, strategy, design, research, and planning. Browse from the dashboard or /templates.
Save any board as a workspace-level template. Templates can include sticky notes, shapes, frames, comments — even pre-positioned cursors for guided walkthroughs.
Component library
Pin reusable bits at the workspace level: logos, sticky styles, frame headers, your brand colours. They appear in a side panel on every board. Updating a component updates it everywhere.
Video huddles
Click the camera icon to start a huddle. Up to 12 webcam tiles dock to the corner; participants on the same board auto-join with audio off. Picture-in-picture mode follows you across boards.
Export
- PNG — whole canvas, selected frame, or selected objects.
- PDF — one page per frame, useful for printable workshops.
- JSON — structured export for downstream tools or backup. Re-importable into ChalkBloom.
- SVG — Enterprise plan; vector export with editable layers.

Integrations
- Figma — embed frames live in any board.
- Linear / Jira — turn a sticky into a ticket; status updates flow back.
- Slack — notifications when a board is shared / commented on.
- Notion — embed a board snapshot or live view in a Notion page.
- Loom — record a walkthrough that’s attached to a frame.
API & webhooks
Read-only board API on Pro; read/write on Enterprise. Webhook events for board created / member added / comment posted.
The board content itself is exportable as JSON; re-importable into a new board. Round-tripping preserves layout, comments, and history metadata.
